| Q: |
What is a "Domain Name"? |
| A: |
As an example, "openrv.net" is a domain name. It allows a user to access a
web resource by a familiar name rather than a complex computer address. |
| |
|
| Q: |
Can I configure or transfer my domain name so that it points to or serves by web
page through OpenRV? |
| A: |
Yes; OpenRV will upon approval and its
sole discretion, serve your
domain name for you. However, you are responsible for any and all payments
and maintenance of your domain name and name server pointing configuration. In other words we are happy to serve
your domain through our servers but you must purchase and maintain the domain
name through a DNS registry provider. Please consult the online
documentation for suggestions on how to perform these functions. |
| |
|
| Q: |
Do I need my own Domain name in order to have a web page on OpenRV? |
| A: |
No; you can use the default structure which does not require a domain name. |
| |
|
| Q: |
Why does OpenRV have this policy and
approach? |
| A: |
Many users prefer to "own" their domain name. OpenRV
has a philosophical conflict to "owning" the domain names of its accommodation
and prefers that others own their own domains. This also means that a user
can discontinue at any time at his or her own discretion and points to their
free OpenRV web page voluntarily. |
